Common marketing mistakes

Jeremy Tristan2022-06-12

Digital marketing may seem complicated, especially if you're a beginner and just starting out. You are bound to make mistakes, sometimes.. expensive ones. Here's where we tell you not to follow your heart, but how to make intuitive decisions based on hundreds of case studies.

Getting emotionally attached to a campaign.

Setting up marketing campaigns can take up a lot of work. The work can range from spending hours designing & filming creatives, to finding the perfect Facebook ad set. You're all set and you hit that button to launch the campaign.

However, a few days go by and you've achieved minimal results. Nothing too crazy.

"Meh, not too big of a deal. Let's run it for a couple more days."

You see, this is where you got it wrong. If the ad set is still underperforming after letting it run for a few days, you'll need to examine the campaign and take a look at these specific metrics before you make a judgment whether to or not to kill the ad set.

Not having a blog.

Okay so, you've got a beautiful website optimized for traffic, you're running ads, and got a few clients lined up. But you don't have a blog..?

You're leaving money on the table.

Having a blog does multiple things:

1. It drives traffic to your website. Every single time you create a blog post, you have the opportunity of getting more leads based on this theory.

2. Industry expert status. Blogging about certain topics will give you a chance to show how well you can represent a niche. Writing regularly about the common problems in your niche can surely make your website the go-to source of information.

3. Opening up a new stream of revenue. When you're driving hundreds of leads to your site, your best bet is to make the most out of it. Getting involved in multiple affiliate programs and sprinkling affiliate links here and there in your blog posts can potentially make you more money.

Neglecting social media.

In this day and age, social media is everything. Believe it or not, if you have a social media page, it doesn't matter if you have 50 followers or 5 million., you are a brand.

Having an Instagram account for your business can pay dividends as it is a surefire way to increase revenue over time.

It allows you to connect with your users on a more personal level. Since Instagram is an image-based sharing website, it allows users to visually see the ins and outs of your business, the services you are offering, and future promotions much more clearly.

Lackluster content creation

Since we're on the topic of Instagram, let's talk about content creation. Here's the thing..

You are either good at it, or you suck.

If you're a restaurant, you can't just post pictures of the promotions you're running. People want to see THE FOOD. Here's an example of a great Instagram page.

Also, please, for the love of God, don't do this.

All you're doing is spamming your users and flooding their feeds.

Closing thoughts

Thank you for reading all the way through the end, and we hope that you learned something new today. Make sure not to make any of these mistakes as they may cost you precious time and advertising money! Until next time, happy marketing!
